If your looking for a budget board and dont care about software then this is a decent board. but GOD the software gigabyte uses SUCKS. worse i have ever seen. I would recommend asus and wish i bought asus. their software is 10000x better and easier to work. I will never buy a gigabyte board again unless they actually work on their software. my cheap dargb controller is more customizable then this board. even the fan software sucks. The only software that I installed is the SIV software for monitoring the fans and voltages from within Windows. Motherboard manufacturers software is unnecessary for the most part. You can install SIV without App Center or .NET 4.5. Monitoring and changing fan speeds based on the temps of the five different temperature sensors on the motherboard can be done in the BIOS, but the Windows software is more full featured as it also allows for monitoring the voltages with alarms. I purchased this B 550 MB in order to update my PC to Windows 11; replacing my previous MB (a 5-year-old Gigabyte board that worked great with Win 10 but was not compatible for Win 11) went fairly smoothly. I found I still couldn’t upgrade to Win 11 until I discovered that my SSD boot drive was formatted for MBR (legacy) and not GPT (UEFI), once I fixed that with mbr2gpt.exe it performed the upgrade to Win 11 without a hitch. Very pleased.

I really like this motherboard, but wish it had more fan headers and better placed USB headers. Would recommend going with a higher end AORUS or an ASUS board if planning on building in a larger case or using a lot of fans and pci-e expansion slots.

I’ve had a gigabyte motherboard in the past, and I was replacing one that had been operating for eight years. I thought it was time for an upgrade, and this motherboard fits the bill! It has plenty of USB ports, it accommodates all of my internal drives, and it allows me to use a good CPU and later on I can upgrade to a higher level one. It’s been operating great for the past week. The performance over my old motherboard is very noticeable. I’m very happy with this product.
