Simple as that. You buy this board, you will need an ethernet adapter. The onboard has an extremely high failure rate. The latest BIOS has a band-aid fix that may at least enable you to get online to order a PCIE card but it will fail eventually. MSI has no solution other than give them more money to ship you a replacement board that will also fail in a week or two. Buyer beware.

Needed a b550 board with pcie gen 4 and this fits the bill perfectly.
Very nice build quality on the board and preinstalled IO shield
Beefy heatsinks on all the vital parts including the m.2 slot (top only not the bottom one)

plenty of ports
BIOS flashback! this came in clutch for flashing to the newest bios for my 5800x, just run the 8pin, 24pin power, slot the thumbdrive you loaded and renamed the bios on into the bios usb port and hit the flash button…no need for ram, cpu or anything. so…

This thing is a beast for overclocking (yes, Ryzen 5950X too) It’s VRM implementation is fantastic (Exactly the same as the Tomahawk) with 60A power stages and even with overclocking my 5950X it stays really cool. Meaning it have all the juice you will need for ANY Ryzen Chip out there yes… again… even the 5950X too, overclocked too. Expansion wise its modest. with 1 x16 PCIe x16 @ 4.0 standard and 2 m.2 slots with the first one including a heat spreader and running @ 4.0 too. Sound is of nice quality, not GREAT but decent enough for…

The PCs I’ve built most recently have an i5-4690k, i3-6100, and i5-7400. So, I knew there would be some things to learn about the Zen architecture (and DDR4 timings.) I have much more of a concern about air conditioning the heat from my house than many people seem to, but I also have experiences from back in the Dark Ages with pushing VRM cooling and output to stability limits, so even though I expect to be doing more undervolting of Ryzen 5s and 7s than overclocking of Ryzen 9s, I felt pretty good about not paying a significant price…
