Western Digital WD Green SSD 240 GB 2.5″ SATA 3

I have bought many products from Amazon and today I received 120GB SSD , which I order 2 day before. When i opened the item oem box sealed by normal cello tape and ssd cover also opened. ( that means it’s already used)

When I connected to laptop and boot the laptop . Laptop took 20 mins to load and disk management not opening and disk part not opening. I thought problem with windows ,so I booted with Ubuntu, finally I was able to the ssd. It’s already partitioned with 2 disk (PFA). It’s Windows OS, which means somebody return this , seller sent me used one. When I try to access or format the disk. Not responding.

Got it for 3k (all discounts inclusive), this ssd is worth every penny. I have a hp 360 convertible with basic configuration (i3 7th gen, 4gb ram and 1 tb 5400 rpm hdd). Since day one, laptop was superslow, boot time was around a minute n half and it used to get stuck very often (couldn’t open more than 4-5 tabs in chrome at one go). Tried every tweak youtube videos had to offer but there was no visible performance improvement. Somebody suggested to buy an ssd ( i dint want to spend much on it honestly). After searching and reading comments i finally decided to go for this one. Below is my view of this product to help you decide make an informed choice if you are wish to get one:
1. Boot time on my machine is less than 15 seconds
2. MS office opens as soon as you click on a file (haven’t seen taking more than 3 seconds)
3. Chrome is never stuck (can open 10-12 tabs, never tried more than that but pretty sure it can handle more)
4. Significant time reduction in transferring file from pendrive, hard drive, phone
5. 3k for a 240gb ssd is the best deal, can’t say about the coming times as technology improves but this is the best deal you can get for now
6. There are people who have written non satisfactory reviews on this (n they have compared it with samsung evo, let me tell you, i am sure that is among the best ssd available, but it comes at double the price with may be 20% extra performance, you can do the math to figure out which is better option when it comes to a value buy)
7. Honest opinion: If you are someone looking for an ssd that offers decent performance (8-10x better than 5400rpm hdd), and don’t wanna spend too much on it then this is product for you

Il disco in esame appartiene alla fascia bassa della linea Western Digital, per cui chi lo acquista sappia che sta acquistando un prodotto davvero economico. Le prestazioni, rispetto ad un disco meccanico sono superiori, ma rispetto ad altri dischi ssd siamo lontani anni luce.
Mi sento di consigliarlo solo a
– Coloro che hanno necessità di recuperare un vecchio pc o notebook;
– Coloro che devono assemblare un pc da ufficio dedicato solo al web e a carichi office estremamente leggeri
– Coloro che devono assemblare un pc che consumi il meno possibile in termini di watt
– Coloro che cercano un disco che allunghi al massimo la durata della batteria del proprio device in quanto i bassissimi consumi del disco credo siano essenziali al fine di raggiungere tale obiettivo
– Coloro che necessitano di un secondo disco solo per memorizzarci file multimediali di piccole dimensioni (mp3, jpeg, semplici video)

Sconsigliato a
– Coloro che cercano un ssd veloce per carichi di lavoro impegnativi
– Coloro che usano il pc per giocare
– Coloro che lavorano con file di grosse dimensione
– Coloro che hanno necessità di usare il disco come unità di backup (ho provato a usarlo con il mio MacBook air e time machine e i tempi di backup sono davvero lunghissimi).
– Professionisti che lavorano con software di grafica e video

La WD è una delle mie marche preferite e ricordo ancora con nostalgia i miei WD black/blue meccanici, davvero velocissimi e affidabili. Ad oggi ho un bellissimo WD Red da 2 TB davvero affidabilissimo e silenzioso.
Oggi tali prodotti (black, blue e red) sono disponibili in versione ssd e suggerisco a coloro che sono alla ricerca delle prestazioni di rivolgersi a tale fascia di prodotti.

Un SSD economico e (spero) affidabile

Ho deciso di acquistare questo SSD per riesumare un Macbook Pro del 2010 che con i tipici hard disk da 5200RPM era cominciato a diventare un po’ troppo lento nei caricamenti e nelle installazioni. Ho scelto questo disco attirato dal brand Western Digital che mi ha sempre soddisfatto in termini di assistenza tecnica e affidabilità dei dischi (anche se questo fa parte della prima serie di SSD di questa marca, ho usato molti dischi meccanici e dischi esterni della Western Digital con ottimi risultati). Un altro motivo per cui ho preso questo, è il prezzo: il Macbook Pro del 2010 non ha interfaccia SATA3 a 6Gb/s, per questo non mi sembrava sensato spendere per un disco più spinto in termini di velocità in quanto già questo va a saturare l’interfaccia SATA2 del Mac in quanto a velocità di lettura e scrittura.

Ho comunque fatto un benchmark delle prestazioni sul mio pc da gaming moderno con interfaccia SATA3 e Windows 10, così da dare un’idea delle prestazioni su una macchina moderna sul quale è montato anche un 850 EVO, vedete l’immagine allegata alla recensione. L’850 EVO è un bel po’ più veloce, ma costa anche quasi il doppio per l’unità da 250Gb (e a me ne bastavano 120).

In ogni caso, questo disco appena installato non è formattato e va “inizializzato” dalla gestione disco di Windows. La capacità effettiva del disco è di 111Gb, come potete vedere anche dalla schermata del software di gestione scaricabile dal sito di Western Digital.

Onestamente mi sento di consigliarlo se il vostro obiettivo è resuscitare un computer un po’ datato per il quale un SSD ancora più veloce sarebbe sprecato, ma se state costruendo un PC da gaming o una workstation professionale consiglio di andare sul sicuro e acquistare un disco più performante come quelli della serie 850 di Samsung, in quanto la differenza nell’uso comune non è così marcata come nel benchmark ma comunque non trascurabile.

I wanted to buy an SSD for its speed. My laptop shipped with a 5400 RPM 1TB Toshiba HDD. The system boot time was around 32-35 seconds, Windows 10 Home. I use PhotoShop CS6, which loaded in around a minute on the HDD.
After switching to the SSD, the system boot time is 10 seconds max, sometimes less, reasons unknown. Photoshop now loads in less than 7 seconds, with all plugins loaded. It’s a huge improvement.
Moreover, you don’t have to worry about sudden shakes to the laptop, that goes without saying.
One thing to mention here, WD Green is the cheapest SSD on the WD lineup, Blue and Black are faster. If you have the budget for those, go for either a blue or a black.
Amazing product, at an affordable price.
Four stars only for the packaging, it could have been better.
