Ich nutze das ASUS Z490 Hero Board jetzt ca 2 Monate lang, habe vieles versucht und bin nach wie vor nicht wirklich zufrieden damit.
Das Board an sich ist solide, es handelt meinen 10900k ganz ok, VRMS und deren Kühlung sind super, es bietet viele Fan, USB und RGB Header und 3 m.2 Anschlüsse, was ich wichtig fand, eine Postcode Anzeige und einen Clear CMOS Button hinten bei den USB Anschlüssen, und oben drauf noch viele USB Anschlüsse hinten dran.
Der Preis ist aber auch echt happig mit den 430€ die ich gezahlt hatte.
Da endet das positive aber auch schon und die Probleme fangen an. Das erste was mir aufgefallen ist, ist dass mein 10900k nicht auf 5,1 oder 5,3 GHz geboostet ist, trotz sehr guter Kühlung (erst Noctua NH U12A, aktuell EK AIO 360). Selbst wenn ich im BIOS auf Rmeove All Limits gestellt habe oder sonst was blieb meine CPU immer bei 4,9 und ging nie höher.
Ich habe jetzt einfach manuell alle Kerne auf 5,1 gestellt, weil nichts anderes funktioniert hat, das hätte funktionieren sollen.
Das BIOS hat noch andere nervige Dinge, von allen dass sich die Temperaturkurve nicht über 75° anpassen lässt ist ein no go. Warum zum Teufel sollte cih meine Lüfterkurve nur bis 75°C anpassen dürfen?
Das heist also entweder dass schon bei nur 75° meine Lüfter auf 100% gehen, oder ich stelle eine geringere Zahl wie 70% Fanspeed ein, was für diesen Temperaturpunkt für mich wesentlich sinnvoller ist, dann geht es aber auch nicht zb bei 90°C auf 100% sondern bleibt bei 75% egal was passiert. Das ist unfassbar dumm!!!!
Und dann noch zu meinem größten Problem…. Die USB Slots….
Ich hatte Windows 10 neu installiert als ich auf dieses MoBo mit einem 10900k umgestiegen bin, und alle blauen USB3.2 Gen 1 5Gb/s Ports haben nicht korrekt funktionert. Die verbindung zu geräten ist öfters kurz abgebrochen, externe SSDs liefen teilweise nur mit Speeds von 40MB/s und kaum habe ich sie an den roten USB 3.2 Gen 2 Ports angeschlossen haben sie meist ohne Probleme funktioniert. Also die Hälfte meiner USB Ports war effektiv absolut useless.
Nach ca 1 Woche frustrierenden Troubleshooting habe ich ich beim ASUS Support angerufen, nachdem man meine Nachrichten auf Twitter gekonnt wegignoriert hatte, während auf die Anderer geantwortet wurde…
Der Support da meinte dann ich soll auf Windows 1903 wechseln und da sollte es funktionieren, da Asus ein Treiberproblem mit den neuen versionen von Windows hat. Angeblich wird an neuen Treibern gearbeitet und damit soll das dann laufen, spoiler Alert, das ist über einen Monat her und es existiert immernoch kein neuer Treiber dazu… GG …
frustriert Windows nochmal neu aufgesetzt mit version 1903 und da hat das dann auch zumindest halbwegs solide funktioniert. Zwar nicht perfekt, aber wesentlich besser als mit Windows 2004.
Aber es ist nicht Sinn der Sache eine neue 550€ CPU zu kaufen und ein neues Z490 Board, die BEIDE NACH Windows 2004 erschienen sind und nichtmals mit 1909 ordentlcih funktionieren.
Ich habe vor 2 Tagen nochmal den Support angeschrieben und diesesmal eine andere Antwort bekommen.
Ich soll im Gerätemanager den USB3.1 Extensible Host Controller deinstallieren und neu starten. Das habe ich gemacht und upgrade jetzt wieder auf Windows 2004.
Ich bin gespannt ob es funktioniert. Wenn ich wieder Probleme bekomme und ASUS das Problem nicht innerhalb einer Woche gefixed bekommt werde ich das Board zu Amazon zurückschicken und mir wieder ein MSI Board kaufen.
Ich sehe es nicht ein 430€ für ein Board zu bezahlen und dann ständig nur Probleme zu haben mit so simplen Dingen wie ein USB Gerät einstecken….

Non posso dare 5 stelle per il Bios che non funziona correttamente.
Mi spiego : all’inizio gli Usb e la luce sync della scheda madre rimanevano accese così anche i dispositivi collegati rimanevano accessi, con gli usb ho risolto configurando dal windows nei dettagli di sistemo energetico ma con la luce sync rgb purtroppo rimane sempre accesa, sono riuscito a spegnerla del tutto altrimenti ho resta sempre accesa o sempre spenta, non si riesce in alcun modo, se magari qualcuno è riuscito che me lo fa sapere, grazie

Le cose Buone!
Prima avevo acquistato una Msi che mi ha dato da subito problema ai condensatori e ho effettuato il reso e ho comprato questa.
Per il momento funziona alla grande, veloce stabile, non perde un colpo, l’ho abbinata a un i710700k sbloccato con un overclock leggero per usare le ram a 3600 e la cpu a 5.1
Molto stabile anche superando una certa potenza elevata . Per il momento sono soddisfatto.
Un’altra cosa buona e che al primo momento dall’avvio appare un programma preinstallato nel sistema della scheda madre che ti indica subito i driver da scaricare senza che devi andare a cercarli sul sito ufficiale, in 2-3 minuti hai risolto con tutti i driver e app utili per la corretta funzione del pc. Farò aggiornamento in futuro

Erano anni che non provavo prodotti del genere e sinceramente sono molto soddisfatto dell acquisto, ha davvero tante impostazioni bios sia per chi è poco pratico che per chi è smanettone, inutile dire che il software Rog strix per il controllo ventole e giochi di colori e a dir poco spettacolare, ripeto sono rimasto davvero soddisfatto, ottima scheda ben fatta e secondo me qualità prezzo non male, consiglio vivamente l’acquisto A+++

Per quanto “economica” in quanto il modello più “base” della serie ROG funziona molto bene! Ho avuto modo di provare la formula XII che pensavo fosse meglio, ma mi sbagliavo, avevo recensito anche quella, ma evidentemente ho toccato punti così critici che amazon non solo ha deciso di cancellare la recensione, ma non posso più scriverla! Bhe complimentoni! ….
Ho acquistato 2 volte questa mainboard sul warehouse, la prima volta c’era un graffio grosso sul sb…. quindi ho deciso di rimandarla indietro, e nel frattempo presi la Formula XII, che si è rivelata un mezzo flop, rimandata indietro pure quella ho ripreso un’altra Hero sul wh, che sto tenendo tutt’ora, ed apparentemente funziona come dovrebbe.
Accoppiato con un 10850k a 5ghz all cores funziona molto bene, la dissipazione dei vrm è REALE, non falsa come quella della Formula XII ( che sia che tieni air cooling che watercooling, i vrm faranno sempre la stessa temperature 55/ 60 gradi.) si va da un minimo di 45 gradi ad un massimo di 80.
Tutto sommato ottima mainbaord, per niente pacchiana, ma funzionale al punto giusto. Consiglio la Hero al posto della Formula XII.

Come sempre spedizione amazon ed imballo impeccabile e veloce. La scheda madre è arrivata senza danni. Il tutto si presenta come da descrizione. Unica nota negativa è il fatto che se non si utilizza il processore di ultima generazione (11) si perde il primo socket m2 che si disattiva e ti ritrovi solo con uno slot m2 posteriore pcie 3.0 x4 funzionante(nel mio caso ho montato un processore 10600kf). Ne avevo presi due di ssd m2 e adesso posso utilizzare solo 1. Finalmente il settaggio della frequenza delle ram è sbloccato e si possono utilizzare gli XMP (le mie ram funzionano a 3600mhz che va una bomba in boost con la cpu). Per il resto tutto ok. Ho messo 4 stelle per il fatto del socket m2 che non fuziona perchè sul sito Asus non era chiara questa cosa. Peccato.

Scheda madre di ottima fattura, molto solida e carino tutto l’inserto in alluminio che aggiunge rigidezza. Dissipazione al top anche per le VRM, restano in un range sicuro anche con overclock non da poco.
Come da foto la scheda madre l’ho abbinata ad un 10600k che ora sta a 5.1 GHz daily use con frequenze inchiodate al valore scelto da me, quindi ribadisco davvero ottimo prodotto per overclock.
Senza spendere una barca di soldi per le schede madri di fascia ancora più superiore, a meno che per particolari esigenze personali come raffreddamento ad acqua delle VRM o di tutta la scheda.

Received this ROG Maximus XII HERO, awesome looking board. Very well built. First thing I noticed is that there was no tape or seal on the box. It was slightly open, ignored that and carried on unwrapping then discovered some scratches in the ROG RGB cover and marks on the 3rd M2 heat sink. Again ignored them and fired it up, bios a little more complex than I am used to but it recognised a new M2 500GB storage stick so installed Windows 10 without touching the install disk and it seemed to work great. Installed another M2 1TB stock which it recognised and worked for a week but then the 1TB disappears and would not work in any of the M2 slots and some of the SATA slots began to be reordered so packed up now and ready to be returned. I assume now it was a return that was sent back to Amazon only to be sold as new. Not sure if ASUS seal their boxes or leave the open – very disappointing with my first ASUS motherboard. Hopefully you will get a brand new untouched one and have better luck!

This review is for the ASUS ROG Strix Z490-F Gaming.
I had no issues installing and using the board. It has a good amount of ports and even has a m.2 wifi slot in addition to the two m.2 slots for ssd’s.
The board certainly looks the part but I was slightly disappointed to see the shroud over the chipset, next to the ssd m.2 slot is plastic. There is a heatsink on the chipset itself, but what you see above is just a piece of plastic, impossible to discern with the eye just looking at it. Regardless the chipset is cooled properly and certainly the VRM stays nice and cool with an overclocked i7-10700k.
I really can’t fault the physical layout of the board apart from the small niggle mentioned above. However the bios is buggy. The bios that shipped with the board was the initial version 04** and it had several issues. For example it was impossible to get both my monitors working, running one of a dedicated GPU and one of the CPU. Once I updated to the new version 06** that got fixed.
I also have an issue with the adaptive voltage setting for the CPU, it does not seem to work properly and I am hoping it is just another bios issue. I can not get anything near stable. Inputting a voltage of 1.3v was all of a sudden 1.6v in Windows with temps hitting the 90’s just loading Windows. I have always run adaptive voltage on every cpu since the i7 4790 days without issue, but now I am unable to get stable with voltage all over the place.
For now I am running a constant vcore and it work really well. Got 5.1ghz with avx offset of 1 at 1.395v.
The bios needs some work, but I can almost forgive them because it is just after release. I will have to play around some more with the adaptive voltage.
In general a good looking and fast performing motherboard with some bios bugs.

This was one of the most expensive ITX motherboards the money can buy and yet…
First, the box and motherboard were not sealed in any way, a bit of disappointment there because I wanted to be absolutely sure that the motherboard is actually new. However, the motherboard looks new and all the accessories came in sealed bags.
Then, it puts the memory at 2133 MHz by default (no overclocking). I have 2 x Corsair 3200 MHz and Intel i9 10900K so I’m expecting at least 2933 MHz from this motherboard, specially when it says up to 4800 MHz in the specs and I paid so much for it. Well, it turns out that turning on the overclocking causes a random crash now and then, regardless of heavy load or not. I tried 3200 MHz and 2933 MHz, the same issue. It turns out this is a known issue with this motherboard. I’m assuming no gamer would buy a motherboard with just 2133 MHZ memory frequency, so I don’t recommend buying this motherboard. It’s a waste of money.
I used the latest BIOS version, upgraded myself. I don’t know if an updated BIOS in the future would solve this issue, I’m very pessimistic, but for now I’m staying with 2133 MHz for stability.

After wanting to change from a 9 Series Intel CPU to a 10 Series I needed a Z490 chipset motherboard. Having previously bought Gigabyte boards I felt like a change and Asus have a good reputation. After going through the minefield of so many different specifications I settled on the Z490-F as I don’t require Wi-Fi that the Z490-E has. It is a well-built board and I like the fact that it has 2 NVMe M2 slots. At the moment I only have one NVMe SSD and I recommend installing it in the second slot as the first is blocked by the graphics card, is very close to the CPU and runs around 5-6 degrees hotter than in the second slot. Both slots run at full speed and there are heatsinks for both. As this is classed as an enthusiast board, I think ASUS assume some level of expertise without having to tell you. Therefore, a tip is to enable CSM in the BIOS prior to installing your OS as without it, it doesn’t enable full UEFI and formats the hard drive as MBR instead of GPT. I think this should be set to default but there may be a reason for that. I found out the hard way and it’s not possible to change it once the OS is installed which means a reformat and starting from scratch. I didn’t want to do this so bought partition management software that enables you do it within Windows. The BIOS settings are very easy to go through but the motherboard manual does not detail the settings as did previous motherboards manuals that I’ve had. Even though the settings are described when you click on them, I prefer to go from a manual. I couldn’t find anything on the ASUS site for the Z490 chipset but did find a PDF for the Z390 which is very similar. Having said all that, I’ve been using the board for well over a month now with an i7-10700K overclocked to 5.2GHZ and I’m very pleased with it.

Mi sono preso del tempo per recensire questo prodotto di ASUS, nel complesso mi ritengo soddisfatto per l’acquisto, rapporto qualita’ prezzo sicuramente molto alto per le funzionalita’ e specifiche hardware che fornisce, tuttavia ho riscontrato qualche difetto che altri produttori per mia esperienza hanno risolto.
PRO:
– qualita’ hardware
– stile
– funzioni
– wifi dual band velocissimo
– doppio slot M.2
CONTRO:
– AI overclocking davvero troppo invasivo, ritengo assurdo che di default imposti overclock della CPU e che per disabilitarlo serva sbattere parecchio nel BIOS, capisco che e’ un modo per spremere ogni risorsa del proprio PC ma se un utente ha un HW adatto e pensato per un uso specifico, ritengo che l’overclocking di default sia inutile oltre che potenzialmente dannoso in termini di stabilita’ del sistema. se non avete particolari esigenze o non sapete dove mettere mani consiglio di impostare tutto in modo che funzioni secondo i limiti della CPU.
– i Software, quelli in dotazione sono tantissimi, uno per ogni funzione, e a mio avviso nessuno che funzioni benissimo, si crea confusione, all’avvio ci si ritrova con decine di finestre aperte, ognuna che fa qualcosa e che va aggiornata in un modo diverso, a mio avviso software superflui. Ne basterebbe uno ben fatto che riunisce tutte le funzioni come aggiornamento driver, gestione risorse e monitor hw e gestione rgb.
– illuminazione RGB, un po sotto tono dato che si illumina un solo elemento che tende a essere nascosto dalla ventola posteriore del case.
